What kinds of products do you use on your children's hair? My son's hair gets so dry & i've been using Kemi(sp) oil on it but his hair just drinks it up.
RECOMMENDED !!! Oh, I'm glad you said something, cause since I've last responded I've found something I saw recommended by many of peeps online. Cantu Shea butter leave in conditioner repair. I love it! it works on mine, the kids, my niece & that is crazy! I love it & i am going to try there other stuff! I bought mine at Walmart...i almost didn't see it....on the top shelf w/ not too many jars of it , because it's not that popular yet. but you can see it here & read reviews...www.drugstore.com > search by brand>Cantu
My children are 2 & 4 so they are older now. I began using Cantu about 2 months ago. When My children were infants, I used only olive oil...I used carrot creme too at times, but mostly olive oil. Again their hair was very fine. Um, i would say that I've never heard anyone complain about "baby don't be bald" "baby no bald" whatever it's called....it's safe on infants. More than likely better for coarser hair.
My children's hair has changed since they were infants so I have been trying a few diff. products always staying closer to naturals things. One thing I am going to try is going to the organic grocery store to find organic hair shampoos, cond, hair pomade etc. We'll see! But for now I really like Cantu. I haven't tried the whole line but I'm for it.
If you try Carol's Daughter, let me know how it turns out. I bought some a while ago to use on my hair and it really didn't do much. I have heard it works wonders on some people's hair. Maybe it was the product I bought?
I have started using the Cantu shea butter on my daughters' hair in the last month and it is WONDERFUL! I tried the motions moisturizer and 2 hours later they looked like nothing had been used.
Awesome! A new thing i've learned is to use it all by itself. Because i was mixing Cantu with other products & they caused it to clump into tiny balls. So no gel for me while using the cantu product...hehe besides, I should've known, it works fine All by itself. Thank you Cantu! I should do a commercial for them! hahaha
< And I just noticed i used the word "there" out of context. Up there in another message on 5/29/08. I meant to say Their! ....does that make me anal for acknowledging that.>
Yeah, but I'm glad it works for you all too! I think it's a great product.....like jergens O.G. face cream with the pink lid. I love it!

Peace, I have found that the solution is right in the kitchen. I use olive oil. It's great for the skin and cooking grade oils are great for you inside and out. Also, peanut, safflower, walnut, and soy oils are great. Give it a try in the bath, mix with shampoos and use as a daily or even hot oil treatment.
In Mahogany Momma Magazine I did a feature on haircare products for Black Children. It's worth checking out. Designed for the parents of Black Children this guide includes
