His Teething is Driving Me Insane

My 10 month old had a fever last Wednesday when I picked him up from the babysitter. By Thursday afternoon he still had it, so I took him to the doctor. We think he is teething. He has his two bottom teeth, but that is it. It has been almost a week and I am about to lose my mind! He whines when I put him down, will not play, will not eat much, and will not sleep more than 3 hours at a time. He does not want his teething ring or a cold washcloth. I have tried teething sprays, brandy on the gum, Tylenol, Motrin, Rescue Remedy, and my own finger! The spray seems to calm him down enough to go to sleep, but no longer affect. To make it worse people keep telling me he will probably be like this for "just a few more weeks". He wants me to hold him so he can lay on my shoulder all day. I know he is in pain, but SO AM I!!
