What does "natural mom" mean to you? Are you a natural mom? Would you like to lead you and your family towards a more natural lifestyle?
Being a natural mom doesn't necessarily mean that you don't relax your hair or only eat granola in the morning (joke), but that you want to move away from using so many chemicals such as through skincare and haircare, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables (who doesn't want to do this) and to use more natural remedies instead of always reaching for prescription/non -prescription drugs to cure what ails us. It may also include using herbs and other supplements to boost our health and wellness.
I've been moving towards become a more 'natural mom' and was wondering what your thoughts were on this. Are you trying to become more natural? Are you finding it difficult to really follow through?
I just opened my new site - http://naturalblackmom.com. Please stop by and take a look - hopefully there will be something there to help you out.

I don't consider myself a 'naturalmom' I just trying to move toward a more healthy lifestyle for both myself and my children. Changes are being made slowly, and they have to be adjusted for our current economic lifestyle (we receive foodstamps). We still eat a lot of preservatives and junk food and fast foods, true. But some things I do
- add more nuts and berries to our eating. Snacks may include vanilla yogurt mixed with real bananas and whole blueberries to make a parfait.
- finding ways of cooking that includes more vegetables or adding more vegetables (like carrots and apples) to foods like stuffing and meat salads
- whole garlic (swallowed in little pieces - who can actually chew it whole?) taken when sick or to prevent sickness like colds and flue
- honey taken when there is a cough
- lots of tea (sometimes with ginger root) and (sometimes homemade) soup when sick
- making my own hair 'grease' or moisturizer with natural products like shea butter, honey, and oils.
- using lemon and citrus fruits as air freshners and house cleaners
- I read a lot labels and based some determinations on that
- smell flowers and using real flowes as hair ornaments - they are natural pick-me-up.
Like it or not, you're a natural mom (smile!) You will see what you wrote is exactly what being a natural mom is all about, at least in my definition - making the effort to live more naturally. Check out this post by one of my guest authors:
