Welcome Black Moms, African American Parents, Mothers of Color, Single Moms,Dads

Hello

As a new mom to boy/girl twins, I wanted to find out if anyone can recommend any good books, cartoons, etc known for having diverse characters from all backgrounds. Or any great books that show african american kids having adventures, solving mysteries, etc?? Of course I can do the research, but thought I would stop here first! If there is a thread/ existing link already posted on this site, please let me know. Thanks!

Why do the research *smile* I'm a momma who likes to find stuff like this for my son. A few of his favorites are the:

Golden Blaze DVD about a Black Dad Superhero
Then their is the ever popular Little Bill

Fabulous movie: Kirikou and the Sorceres--beautiful cartoon, no violence, lovely store, appropriate for boys and girls. I'm just waiting for them to translate the second dvd from french.

my son loves to watch Noggin a channels exclusively for toddlers. The characters are very diverse and some of them even speak different languages at times. Some of cartoons he is into now are Dora the Explorer and Diego, Ni-ho Ki-lan, the Backyardigans, little Bill, etc all of which come on Noggin through out the day. Noggin and Sprout (PBS) are the only channels I will allow him to watch because they are educational, diverse, and very age appropriate.
