Why is this group so dead? I know FATHERS are being created everyday...

How painful for a child to not know her father, have him appear in her life to 'play house' with mommy for three months, become attached and fall in love with him, only for him to vanish again without a word. My 3yr old is hurting because of my mistake in believing he wanted to be a father. My son (her twin) has special needs and I wonder if that has anything to do with it. My son doesn't seem to even notice dad ever came around but my daughter is clearly heartbroken. I need to work out the anger and frustration in my head before I can work on hers but all I can say when she asks where he is: I don't know.

Neither father of my 2 girls have offered a penny (or themselves for that matter!) to assist in their well-being since their births. So many promises made..to all of us...& - NOTHING! Both girls are excelling academically, socially, & are 2 of the most well-respected youth in our church, & community. All of this they've done WITHOUT benefit of their actual fathers..but with the loving assistance (& prayers!) of my dad, my brother, their god-father, & a treasured cousin who loves & believes in them beyond belief! Even though busy in their own lives, they never cease to take an opportunity to encourage, offer advice, attend PTA meetings, or to just BE PRESENT in their lives. Something their biological fathers can't/won't be bothered to do. My pride comes when we pray together & they thank GOD for me - their mother AND father! Not in the regular packages of male & female...but all rolled up into one incredible, beautiful woman they just happen to call...'MOM'!!

When I found out that I was pregnant with my son, his father had already left me and then wanted to make it work, but as I did not pursue it he did find someone else that has 4 kids and decided to settle down with her. My son is almost 2 (1/15/07) and in the early beginging his father was very active in his life and he just recently dwindled on the father duties as being there, letting my son get to know him..But all this came from him being mad with me cause there is no relationship between us, all I can do is pray and leave in god's hand and raise my son to the best of my ability..One day they will grow up and be the responsible fathers that god wants them to be until then we are Mothers who will do anything for our kids

I have been reading your blogs and have listened to your blogtalk, you have a very interesting take on things. I am glad to see you be so proactive about shedding light on our fatherless children and on the fathers who abandon them. I hope to build with you on this issue and others in the future. If you get a minute come check me out tonight on blogtalkradio.com/relationshiprewind. Keep doin what you doin. Peace & Balance

My daughter's father was 34, and I was 33 when I conceived. I never thought in my wildest dreams, even after I gave birth, that he would feel that he didn't have to help.

Peachy Mom it is not just young fathers. My sons father was 33 when he was concieved and left when i told him i was pregnant. His dad came to see him 1 time in almost 11 yrs. Word of advice put him in God's hands and be the strong women that you are and take care and be there for you kid. We are here if you need us sweetie. But i learned to do it myself and let the kid find out about their father on their own.

Why is it that young fathers think they dont need to take care of their child because it is the MOTHERS job? I am struggling with this dilema due to the lack of concern my son's father seems to show for him. Anybody know a good way to handle this situation?
