Well the Holidays are fast approaching. What should I do if I don't want to visit my boyfriend's father's house for Thanksgiving? He has a pit bull ( I am allergic to dogs), no running water and it takes 1 hour to get to his house. Oh, and the food is tasteless. I don't want my little girl there. My boyfriend says his dad wants to see the baby. I tell him I don't want to go if there is no running water. I can't believe that people choose to live like this. Plus, I don't think pit bulls and babies mix well together. On the other hand, I have invited the “in-laws” over to my house, but they don’t like the city. My stand now is that I went to their place 2 or 3 times and they have not been to mine once. I ask, where is the compromise?

I would not go ,especially if they don't have running water.
You have convinced me. I say follow your heart...and if you have that many reasons not to, then you shouldn't go.
Thank you, Ladies, for your replies. I know I should not go after all. The thing is, is that I am connected to these people thru my little girl forever. While GG's grandpa John is a nice enough guy, I can't visit a nasty house.
There is anyway you can visit and not visit find a nice hotel to check into, check out a place to get a nice holiday setup, invite them out in their own town get yourself interested in something in the area this helps keep you out of the house and around the animals. Be creative with it.
