Hello ladies. We are unschoolers. We've been living this way of life since our children were born, but we didn't know it. After reading and researching we feel this is the best choice for our family and we are loving the unschooling lifestyle.

Greetings everyone. I am a homeschooling mom of my soon-to-be 5 year old daughter. We started homeschooling the day after she was born ... no kidding. We used a program called "Teach your Baby to Read", etc. by the Institute for the Advancement of Human Potential (check their sites at www.iahp.org and www.gentlerevolution.com). I would highly recommend you check out thier programs no matter what age your child is. Needless to say, my daughter is reading phenomenally (the child can read the newspaper with ease) and is amazingly astute and intelligent. We are having a great time homeschooling. I can't imagine giving up the joy of watching my child discover the world. Plus the flexibility and opportunities that homeschooling brings. Some of the subjects we cover she probably would not have known anything about until much later and we do a lot of travelling whenever the opportunity arises.

I wanted to stop by say hello to everyone who's teaching their kids at home. I've been interested in this approach, but because of income contraints I may end up sending my daughter to public or private. I would like to know what recommended curriculums and schedules you use. There is so much out there and its hard to figure out which ones best. Thanks again.

Hi.Firstly,I'm not a Mom,but a soon-to-be dad.If this is not ok,I fully understand.Secondly,as a dad,I want our child to be taught uplifting, and UNFALSE,things. This is why I have joined this group. My wife and I too intend to teach our child from as early as possible.

I HOME SCHOOLED SOME 30 PLUS YEARS AGO,WHEN IT WASN'T LEGAL UNLESS YOU HAD A TEACHING DEGREE. I AM SO VERY HAPPY THAT SO MANY AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE TAKEN BACK THEIR POWER TO RAISE THEIR OWN CHILDREN. IN THESE CHAOTIC TIMES IT IS THE MOST POWERFUL SOLUTION TO THE BLACK FAMILY. WOMEN ARE ANSWER TO THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES IN THE DISPORIA,TO CHOOSE TO PROPREAITE LIFE AND TO NUTURE IT THREW OUT THE CHILDS LIFE,IS MOTHERHOOD. SOMETHING THATS BEEN HAMPERED IN MANY WAYS FOR US MOCHA MOMS. NOW THAT WE HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT LET ENCOURAGE MANY OTHER WOMEN TO THIS DIVINE RITE TO INSTILL VALUES AND A LOVE OF SELF . AFTER THAT THEY CAN MARTICULATE INTO THIS VAST WORLD WITH A SOUND FUNDATION THAT MOTHERS CAN FOSTER WITH LOVE AND PATIENCE.
