Thank God for this group!! We cannot sit or stand around any longer and wait for our boys to get a glimpse of hope in their communities. This is a passion of mine since I retired from teaching. (27yrs). We must help our boys... IF NOT YOU, THEN WHO ?!!

I haven't been on this site in a while and missed a comment you left about talking to black boys about life lessons. I've recently published my book, 17 to Life: A Black Boy Memoir ( On Becoming a Human... Being in America). The book addresses what it was like to go from black boy to black man in this country. I would love to get feedback from you, your sons and other mothers about the content. You may also click my Youtube page to hear me reading from the first few chapters... Look forward to hearing from you and your sons.

Hello, I am the mother of three children, two boys and a girl. I find myself constantly worrying about what type of men they will grow up to be. With the type of negativity that are out there nowadays, the type of things(i.e violence, drugs) that they are exposed to. It's scary to wonder if your son(s) are going to make the decision to go to college or be in the streets. I am a very protective mother and I often try to keep them away from things I find unsafe(which is ALOT). I know it's not right for me to shelter/smother my boys that way but I don't know how to let go and let God. I can't wait to get to know the mothers of this group...Be Blessed

Hello, I'm new here. I am mom to Marquis, a 21 month old. I am concerned everyday about the man he will grow up to be. I hope I am making the right decisions and being the right example for him. I let him be my reason for making good choices, especially in men. I find that my day is filled with making things better for him. I never knew my parents worked hard and I want it to be seamless to him as well. I also want him to understand responsibility, it is a balance. Anyway, I can't wait for your insight on our sons.

May this note find each and every one of you in good health and spirits.

It's Time To Save Our Youth!
I just want you to know that the time has come for us to take our youth back from the streets.
If you are a brother, sister, mother or father, grandparent find your youth and get them into
something positive, something that will help them get though these very trying time. Don't worry about money, because it's not even about money at this time. As the years are passing so fast and speedy, our children are getting into things we never would have thought about back in the day. We need to be the change, make the change, and stop talking, planning, and start doing something. Even our youth that are not family they need someone also. Start a football team, reading club, computer club, and cooking club, whatever your expertise’s are and work with our youth. They need us, how do we know, well more youth are becoming drug dealers, drug users, bank robbers, car-jackers, cold bleeded killers/murders, gang leaders and going from the pipeline to prison at a growing fast pace. We have to do something to get our youth back. It's never to last to try. We need a campaign to save our youth, all youth. So when you receive this email please feel free to get back to me and we can go state by state with a national plan already in place. I am working on a plan that will be free for distribution before or by December 21, 2008. We have to save out Youth or there will be no future.
