Why join the Black Moms Network?
I believe that women of all colors should have a place to find peace, comfort, and sisterhood.

I am grateful to see a club of this nature. I am also overjoyed to see so many beautiful faces of color.
How did you find the black moms club?

About Me:
Author of In My Mind: The World through the Eyes of Autism", an endearing tale about how a child with autism sees the world... and how the world sees him.

Adonya Wong attended Suffield University in Twin Falls, Idaho where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration.

She began writing short stories and poems at a young age and finds she writes her best through the inspiration of her loved ones. In My Mind: The World through the Eyes of Autism (Tate Publishing, 2008) is her first book. It was pre-released in October 2008 and released worldwide on January 6, 2009.

In My Mind creatively explores, through the form of a children’s picture book, the inner world of an autistic child… the world no one else seems to see. From exciting adventures to silly games and conversations with a range of imaginary friends, the main character of the story, inspired by her son, Nicholas, brings readers into his world to demonstrate how a child with autism sees the world, and, in turn, how the world often sees a child with autism.

Adonya’s primary motivation for writing such a book stemmed from the most basic recognition that there was a scarcity of literature directed to and written for autistic children and their families.

It is her intention, through her work, to encourage readers to want to learn more about the autism disorder. In My Mind was written to help raise awareness about autism, and she hopes that the reader will gain a deeper sense of compassion and tolerance for those “different” than themselves.

When she heads the community-based nonprofit which she founded, M.O.C.H.A. – Mothers of Color for Holistic Alternatives.

Adonya lives in Southern California with her son where she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching classic movies, and curling up with a good book.

A portion of the author’s proceeds benefit various autism organizations in the United States and Canada.

Good morning Adonya, I'd like to ask your advice on something. Right now, I have my some seeing a neurology/speech pathology doctor and they've not detrmined if he's dealing with just a speech delay or a mild form of Autism. Now, since im still trying to get the detailed, I've been trying to figure out the best way to discipline him when he is acting up. Please advise. Also, do you have your son involved in any sports/activities? If so, how did you determine what was best? Thanks LaShonda

Lend4Health: Community-based, Interest-free Loans for Autism!

What an amazing concept this is.

This way-cool mom from VA started this organization this summer, and she's already seeing some of the fruits of her labor.

Not only is she helping Spectrum families in need, she's also doing her part in spreading awareness that autism is TREATA… Continue

Traveling Down the Road to Autism Recovery

I know it isn't my fault. I didn't cause my son's autism, but that doesn't stop me from, occasionally, feeling a bit guilty.

In order to heal myself on this road to recovery and since I'm more prone to be online than not, I decided to start journaling. I've bypassed the paper journal and pen, and opted for the instant gratifying online version better known as blogging.

We are all united through autism. Sharing our pain as well as our jo… Continue

How "healthy" is your car seat?

As parents, we're always looking for a better way to keep our children healthy. We worry about a variety of things... the air they breathe, the clothes they wear, the food they eat, etc.

When was the last time you thought about their car seat?

Every day, we transport them in these modern wonders. Thanks to the folks at Ecology Center, we can learn more about any harmful chemicals that find their way into their car seats.

I'll admit it has been years since I purchased my son's booster.… Continue
