Hi my name is Bridget a married sahm orginally from Ct now living in California. I am the the baby in my family and yes very spoiled I may add lol. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and have 3 beautiful girls and one adorable son and trust me they all keep us very busy.

My oldest daughter is 22 a Graduate of Grambling State University. She received her BA in Psychology last May and nos she is working on her Masters, she is and intern working as a Social Worker and well as sub for Special Needs Kids we call her the Diva.

Next is Erica who is 20 she too attends Grambling State University. Last semester she made the Presidents List with 5 A's and 4 B's. She is majoring in Criminal Law she wants to be in law enforcement sigh. We call her Mini Me she is so much like me its scary.

Next is Brianna who is 14 she is in Highschool 9th grade. She is in the Honors English Class and loves to read, a peace maker (well until it comes to her siblings lol. Her nickname is Breedizzle yes she named her self.

Next is my son Eric who is 13 is has made a big difference in our lives especially in mine. I will blog about this later, he was diagnosed with Asthma at 8 months we almost lost him, Autism/PDD at the age of 2 and Absence Seizures at the age of 10.

Everyday with him brings about to many different changes especially with the School system. I started a group on msn back in 03 to help parents of kids with special needs called Helping One Another To Cope where we discuss everything from birth, school issues etc.

I love to read, blog, play on the Wii Fit, and meet new people on and off the net.

Well this is just a tidbit about me lol. Hope you enjoyed

How Autism Saved My Life

Whew well this is hard for me to write for it involves a man whom with out him I would not be here today and this man is my daddy. His name was Nathaniel born on May 9 1962 and departed this life Aug 23 1996. Autism for many parents such as myself has brought so many emotions into our lives, anger, sorrow, hate, fear, lack of understanding, loss of funds, broken homes, poor education the list goes on. Even though I have experienced a few of these things the one thing it did for me was save my li… Continue

I'm scared of lonely

I'm in this fight and I'm swinging and my arms are getting tired
I'm trying to beat this emptiness but I'm running out of time
I'm sinking in the sand and I can't barely stand
I'm lost in this dream, I need you to hold me
I'm scared of lonely

This first part of the song fits how I am feeling so perfectly its just to damn scary. What fight am I in some may know some may not. I am fighting with my sons school he is in Special Education due to this Autism/PDD since the age of tw… Continue

Everytime good ole Autism throws my baby a curve ball. He manages to knock one of them suckers out of the park

As a mom of a kid with special needs we tend to have stories of the bad things Autism brings into our lives. But doday I have nothing but good news to share, my baby came home the other day with a paper that said he was a Cardinal Star at school.

Free Pizza and movie and he was being honored for a award. So ok I am going to be there cheer my baby on lol. So while there I cant tell you how proud I was when my baby got the following awards the whole place stood up and out of all of the kids 280 s… Continue

History is made and I lose friends on Myspace, Facebook and my Autism Group. It's not that serious people

As I sit back and look at history being made and listen to our very first black (yes I said black instead of african american) President. I am over joyed and a bit hardend at the way people are acting, people who are posting things like black people only voted for Obama for he is black. Do you all know that Obama is biracial? And my second question is what about all of the white, asian, mexican, puerto rican, asian, Muslim, korean, omg the list is endless that voted for him was it due also of the… Continue

Hi Bridget, Have a wonderful week and may all of God's blessing flow your way! Marie

"It’s Crunch Time!”, This is a new children’s book by Marie Brewer. Find it on www.bbotw.com (www.helenbrewer.com for the link to book) This is my book of muscle for boys (ages 9-12) to point them in the direction of HOPE!...This is an interactive book where they can write about their feelings. It discusses acceptable behavior, honesty, good self-image, respect for females and animals, appreciation for teachers/school, choosing good friends. The book also talks about resisting gangs, guns, drugs, violence, alcohol and bad influences. Let's attack the behavior, not the boy. "It's Crunch Time!" , $10.95 , by Marie Brewer, www.amazon.com Be a part of the village to help our boys envision their true God-given purpose!
We can turn this thing around! SEE! THINK ! ACT!
IF NOT YOU , THEN WHO ?!

Good afternoon Bridget, I'd like to ask your advice on something. What methods do you use to descipline your son. My four year old sometimes does not do what I'm asking of him. I was wondering if you use the same method with him that you use with your other children. Do you do "time-outs"? Please advise. He's my only one so i'm still learning.

Thank you :)

Congratulations, on being a mom of a college graduate! I have a daughter who just graduated from college last Spring. I was a book discussion leader for 5 years. I am children's author from Atlanta.

I was invited as the guest speaker of a national agency for Black History Month. I gave them a list of the Ten Books Every Parent Should Have on their Book Shelf. Hit me back on my wall to see if you have read them.
