About Me:
I started writing children stories years ago, it came out of a desire to create characters I felt my daughter could relate to. It also came from a desire to create stories that would excite her imagination when she laid in bed at night. These were too stories I couldn't find in book stores.

When I started researching the children's book publishing market for my business plan, I found that most books for African-American children were biographies, historical fiction, contemporary fiction and concept books. Outside of my friends who write, I have yet to find a true fantasy/adventure children series written by an African-American writer. Even movies in this genre have not targeted African-Americans which has created a hole for me in the African-American genre. I love this genre. I got a degree in animation so that I could work in this genre.

This started a dialogue with some friends of mine. One in particular, a great illustrator, told me one day that he loved working with me on concept characters because he finally has the opportunity to create characters that reflect him and his culture in a genre he also loves. Wow... Wow. That's all I could say.

After thinking about that for a while and coming to the conclusion that I wouldn't be able to properly publish my series of children books for another year, the dream of producing a fantasy/adventure magazine for children was born. Once that idea was born it further developed into creating a magazine that showcased the work of African-American writers in the genre. A genre of writing, that from what I can tell has never showcased the work or style of African-American writers before. And now I'm launching that magazine, Labyrinth's Door.

Worlds to Discover Invites Children to Follow Whimsical Aspirations Through Labyrinth’s Door

Real life is for everybody else – this, according to Labyrinth’s Door, a fanciful new magazine that encourages young people to step out of their daily school-play-sleep routines and into their imaginations, where otherworldly settings collide with a weathered, but good- natured soul in stories that turn a lazy afternoon hobby into an engrossing adventure that won’t soon be forgotten. Graciously w… Continue

KEEPER'S JOURNAL

Since the Keeper is always filled with melancholy when the Labyrinth’s visitors return to their normal lives, he pens a monthly journal – called the Keeper’s Journal, of course – in which he keeps all who’ve been to the Labyrinth abreast
of its happenings. In his excitement, it’s in these correspondences that he forgets to keep his lips sealed at times, often to the recipients delight … unless it’s one of their own of course!
