As a first time mom, I need support and guidance. I don't have my mom as she lives in another state. I have my father and grandparents but they don't give me guidance at all. I am always told what to do and when I make a decision they don't support it. I need a network of women that will support me and let me know if I am right or wrong with out judging. That is what I am looking for in this social network. If I make a few friends along the way it would be great.

I became a first time mom at your age. It was very challenging but my mom was near by, My only suggestion is to read everything you could get your hands on. The library is a great place to find the books you need and it is a great place to walk to, spend some quiet and walk back from. Excercise and knowledge in one trip. I survived the first and did it again. Yeah, I know you don't want to think about that now. Good luck
how are you doing in the master's program? have you thought about what you want to do when you graduate? I don't work either while pursuing my PhD. My husband has been very patient the last two years
What a beautiful baby. My daughter is turning 10 this month, and it seems like just yesterday that I was holding her like that. Cherish every moment of it because it goes by so quickly. And take LOTS of pictures :)
FastGirls is collective of women who have chosen to practice the sacred and beneficial art of fasting in an effort to heal their body, mind and spirit.
Fasting has its roots in nearly every religious tradition from Christianity and Islam to Judaism and wisdom traditions of the East. The practice can be found in history as early as 7000 B.C. and most recently in modern houses of worship and even hospitals around the world.
Fasting is an experiential process that teaches us how to be with the difficult. Fasting is difficult to start and difficult to continue. But its regular practice allows us stand in the face of inevitable challenges and experience our own ability to overcome.
If you would like to share in a community of women abstaining for the health of their mind, body and spirit, join us.
