About Me:

I am an award-winning newspaper columnist who has been twice-nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for commentary and in 2008 was selected as the No. 1 commentator in five Western states by the Society of Professional Journalists.
I am also a nationally recognized women's advocate who speaks about empowerment, domestic violence, sexual assault and youth issues. I am a self-taught multi-media artist and an MBA-educated entrepreneur, who co-founded a drop-in resource center to help African and African American women affected by domestic violence.
I also am a spoken word performance poet, who has shared the stage with Alfre Woodard, Danny Glover and feminist bell hooks. I've written - and performed in - several plays, published three books of poetry, and, this year, am debuting my first e-novel.
