About Me:
The Anti-Baby Mama Book was written and inspired by my personal experiences as a single mother and the experiences of other single mothers . I was raised by my grandparents my whole life and shared a home with two other siblings whom had different fathers.
At age nineteen, I went through abuse and abandonment during a very difficult pregnancy, and like many single moms without a strong male support system, I had discipline problems with my son due to his father coming in and out of his life.
At the time of writing the Anti-Baby Mama Book, I was a twenty-six year old single mom whom had left a job working in a night club, and decided to make lifestyle changes after attending the 2007 Women on the Frontline Conference spearheaded by Prophetess Juanita Bynum. After returning from the conference, I went on a forty day fast, and throughout that forty day time period, I was journaling everything I wanted to re-assess about my life. By the grace of the Most High, this personal journal I initially intended for myself, gave birth to three books: The Anti-Baby Mama Book and the upcoming Mind Garbage and Victorious Secrets.
During my transition, I was earning less than $20,000 a year without the assistance of the father of my child. As the chapters began forming into a manuscript, I began to receive visions that went along with the main chapters of the book starting with "I'll Show His Baby Mama Who's Better". I prayed about it and wondered "Where in the world will I get the money to fund a photo shoot for all of these chapters?" And I always received confirmation telling me “Obey the Vision.” I did not know where the money was coming from; I was mocked, doubted, and ridiculed by many family members who didn’t think I was ready, or old enough to pursue this venture. As I began to have doubts, God said “Do it Now!” The notion to write these books and launching Beastess Publishing became an urgency in my spirit. Every extra dime I would get, I would spend on building the capital I needed to bring this vision into manifestation at the expense of sacrificing comfort and convenience.
As an avid reader, and ever curious about sociological issues in minority communities, I noticed that there is information about the effects of single parenthood, but a lack of information that focuses on the causes. I also noticed that there are anthems and support groups telling young mothers like myself, to “Keep Ya’ Head Up”, and although I can appreciate this, I wondered to myself if this encouragement indirectly condones single motherhood.
If someone touched a hot stove, on purpose, and burned their hand, would people come to that person’s rescue saying “It’s gonna be alright, you just keep your head up with that burned hand.” Absolutely not! People would call that madness! The Anti-Baby Mama Book encourages young women and single mothers to realize the hard reality of raising children alone while re-assessing the methods to our madness that many of us are in denial of. The chapters are based on the reasons women become single mothers. In this series, I don’t take the blame off of the absent fathers, but I seek to bring in remembrance that single parenthood is a choice.
The Anti-Baby Mama Book is for women of all ages, races, and social backgrounds, but I decided to focus on the minority community, because that's where baby-mama-hood runs rampant. Confession and self-realization is good for the soul, so I encourage you, my readers, to read this book over and over while taking notes, and coming up with your own revelations that lead to healing.
