Hello. I am a new member. I just signed up with BMN today. I just wanted you to know that I've been to your website and I love your unique jewelry designs. I've just recently started making jewelry myself and I have fallen in love with it. You seem to have alot of experience with it. Do you have any advice for someone just starting out?
Hi, Annette. Thank you sooo much. I really appreciate the compliments. I just started in March, believe it or not. It hasn't even been a complete year. I gave it a shot and fell in love as well. If you are looking to have an online presence, I would definitely suggest this site and other sites to help you promote yourself, such as www.etsy.com and myspace, for starters. Etsy is a great, great place for artisans to sell their work. I just signed up there myself and I've sold one item already. I'm very happy with them. I think you will like it too.
If you don't already, get some postcards or business cards made up. I've greater success with postcards because I can put pictures of my items on there and it will give the person a reason to want to visit the site. What else? As far as ideas, I've taken a couple of beading classes at craft stores like Michaels, Joann Fabrics ... stores like that. To get ideas, you can always pick up beading magazines in those stores as well. I keep everyone I get and I always go back to them. I have already seen a change from the way I made jewelry in March, to now. Make sure you sell quality items, sterling silver, gemstones, etc. If you don't, then make sure your price matches, you know? Don't charge an arm and a leg for stuff that's not high quality. Lastly, I am your friend so if you have any questions, I am here for you. I consider myself a newbie too, but I am more than willing to share what I've learned so far.

Hi T. Thanks for sharing and the advice. I've actually been looking into taking classes at the local craft stores and I found that they are not very expensive at all. Most of what I've learned so far have come from books I've gotten from the library and How To's on websites such as Firemountain Gems. Next I will look into getting some business cards as well. I pray for much success for you and your business. God Bless and Thanks again.
You're very welcome. You made me think of something when you mentioned Firemountain Gems. You can always go to Youtube and type in whatever you're looking for. Examples, jewelry making, beading, wire wrapping, etc., and there are how to videos on there. They are SOOOO helpful. I've done that several times. You can stop it, rewind it, etc. They are wonderful. You'll be a pro in no time.
