Warloc'd Up

Soooo after a long hiatus I'm back, ready to reconnect with the world. Phew, what a tough couple of months I've had! Aside from having a baby, there's been a bunch of family drama (isn't that always the case around this time), some relocation...*sigh* its been crazy!

I've also been contemplating taking out my locs. I've had them for 4 3/4 years, and, well, I think its time for a change. I originally got them to loc in a consciousness acquired some time ago under a now personally archaic mode of… Continue

Baby Blues?

In all my baby frenzy, I recently began reading up on postpartum depression; because of my raging emotions during this pregnancy, I thought it was only natural to read up on yet another way my emotions could be affected. After learning the causes, symptoms, and preventions (and reading celebrity stories- I have a insatiable urge for all things celeb gossip), I decided to create a Ning community devoted not to wallowing in the woes that is postpartum, but by celebrating our new bodies, minds, fut… Continue

For You (He is)

A perfect creation
son of the Most High
so fly
oh
my heart swells ten times its size at the thought of you.

Wisdom unmatchable
your intelligence knows no bounds
strength compounded
by extreme masculinity
masked
in sensitivity,
you...
you leave me

breathless.

When our energies intertwine
like a loc of tangled tresses extending from my consciousness
my soul lifts its arms up in blissful rejoice
physicality is but icing on the cake.

Love of this world is not enough to describe our bond
so
I beg… Continue

On Getting Motivated

So, I have aspirations to launch a lifestyle magazine in January, and am having the hardest time getting motivated. It might be due to the fact that I have baby on the brain, mixed with a dash of fear and a sprinkle of "can we hurry it up already;" only He knows, but its driving me nuts. At a time in my life where, given our family situation, I am able to pursue absolutely anything I desire, I am finding it hard to just sit down and study.

Its really odd; I've been on the grind since I was 14,… Continue

Hi Lyn,
I know how you feel about becoming a mommy; I was so nervous not really knowing what to expect. You will be just fine, just be patient as you enjoy your little bundle of joy. You will be a wonderful mommy!

Yes I have. Actually my first name is Tuere'. (Two Air Ray) That was botched a lot. I use my middle name. After I pronounce, Ayana for people though they usually do fine with it. It is getting more common. Even though it was unusual when I was grown up, I always had a lot of pride about my name. Altogether my name means
Sacred Beautiful Flower (in several African languages).

The spelling you have chosen is interesting. Did you get it from an African language or did you edit it yourself? I think your child will love the name too! It's one of those names that fits a child and an adult. People never picked on me because of my name. They always said you have a beautiful name. Have you chosen a middle name?
God Bless!

Ayana

Yeah my situation is crazy. It always happens like that for me when I am with someone even though things are not going right then here comes someone from my past but in this case someone I had a very special bond with and was engaged to. I don't know its hard.
