At 10:45am on September 29, 2008, Olena said…: Hi Mojito. Hope you are doing ok on this Monday morning. Well I have 2 son's one 19 weeks and the other who is 14 years old. I feel you when it comes to patience. Dealing with a newborn and a teenager at the same time can really trying at times to put is nicely. My teenager loves his little brother but he still wants to spend time with his friends every free moment he has either in person or on the phone via talk/text. It really drives me crazy when I could use some help with lil man. It's hard because my fiance works 2 fulltime jobs so since he is not around alot, my oldest is the closest thing I got to a little bit of a break from the baby. It feel like I gotta force him to spend time with his little brother sometimes. Sometimes I will just take my baby's swing and sit it in my oldest son's room and tell him " lil man is going to sit with you for a while.
As for your kids you have 2 school age kids with 2 different sets of priorities. The 6 year old probably get's on thge 16 year old's nerve from time to time. I try to tell my oldest that the youngest looks up to him and will want to do everything he does and go everywhere he goes, so to get ready for it. The oldest will alway want their privacy and the youngest don't really understand or care what privacy is. I try prepare myself for what I will be going thru a few years from now with the 2 kids. I will probably be ready to pull my hair out. Just keep in mind that there are going to be a lot of things that you will not be able to control because of the age difference and you will be able to get thru day by day because you are a SUPERWOMAN!! You may not feel like it at the end of the day of fighting with the kids but just tell yourself that at the end of the day, " I am a SUPERWOMAN" Hopefully that will bring a smile to your face :) Anyway Sorry if it seem like I am rambling.
