World AIDS Day is December 1st...Look at Me by Linda R. Herman

Look at me, take a long, hard stare.

I'm the face of HIV. I represent every woman 25-34 who has died or is dying from AIDS.

AIDS is the leading cause of death in African American women in this age group.

So, LOOK at me!

Do you think I'm ready to die? I'm not ready. I don't want to leave my children, family, and friends. LOOK at me!

Can you honestly tell me we can't change the statistics by raising awareness? Can we not see the… Continue

We Interrupt This Life...

It’s such a blessing to be surrounded by family when I visit my parents’ home for the holidays, but it’s very difficult to find a quiet place to renew my mind. Saturday morning, I awoke very early to exercise and thought I succeeded at finding a minute alone until my father walked into the room. He said he was going to stop me from exercising because he needed to say something. Daddy, are you kidding me?

My father began his conversation by stating why he didn’t have a problem… Continue

"My Holy Bible" for Children

Finally... it's been a long time since I've seen a Bible created that embraces the African-American Christian culture-- with children in mind. When I first saw the cover I was excited. When I received my first shipment, I was thrilled beyond words. I could not wait to offer this brilliantly designed Bible to my wonderful customers. Especially during the season on which we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I hate that i did have to get all upset today when i was having a good day. All I need to do is find her a playdate to keep her happy and learning when I can't… Continue

How To Get Sleep With A Newborn Baby

(BlackDoctor.org) -- You place your precious angel in its crib, tip-toe out of the room, turn on the baby monitor, creep to your bed, lay down, and then…. “Wahhhhhhh!” Your baby is up and shrieking at the top of their lungs, again.

It might not seem like it at the moment, but hope is in sight. By age 6 months, nighttime stretches of nine to 12 hours are possible. In the meantime, a little creativity can help you sneak in as many zzz’s as… Continue

Book Excerpts

RELATIONSHIPS

Love

The thing I wanted most in life

turned out to be a great big lie

it tricked me with its promises

now I don't have the will to live

this thing that's supposed to be filled with joy

even made me give birth to a little boy

it's sort of like an addicting drug

its hold on me I cannot shrug

it makes you go through hurt and pain

your mind's screwed up, you've gone insane

you know you should go, but it makes you… Continue

~~Youngevity Mineral Makeup and Why it is good for your skin Go Green~~

Some of the most common ingredients found in most foundations, blushes, bronzers, and eye shadows can be damaging and even dangerous. These include talc and blue No. 1. Babysitters?

I want to know why is it that babysitters want to charge an arm and a leg for service yet don't even watch the child for the entire week?? Right now this lady is watching my daughter for roughly 85 - 90 a week yet she will only watch her probably 3 times out of the week meaning now i have to spend my money elsewhere. I already told her my finances can't afford to put her in an actual daycare. She was in agreement to work with me which I was like great! then she started to get really shady. I… Continue

The Other Woman

I'm fully aware of the other woman in my husband's life. I've seen her on countless occasions and I can usually tell exactly what day she decides to surface. She's the most bold woman I have ever known.

I know it's strange reading this here, but writing is healing for me. Yes, it's time for me to be transparent about even this.

How can I remain so calm? Well, I'm not calm about it at all and her periodic visits with hubby upset me, but what can I do? Sometimes it scares me… Continue
