Black Moms Club

Welcome Black Moms, African American Parents, Mothers of Color, Single Moms,Dads

I am writing this with great reservation in that I don’t mean to offend anyone.

But this needs to be said.

Black Moms Club in a wonderful networking site for black moms and caregivers. It is a site that is very much needed in our society and when used properly everyone will benefit.

Okay, so what is my problem?

My problem is spam which is the equivalent to junk mail. Small business owners who come to the site to find customers, team members, or people to join their networking site. They offer nothing else and you know nothing about them. I understand the need to find these people to further your mission or create your own success stories.

But that is not considered networking; it’s harassment, it’s being a pest, and it’s irritating. I know that the internet is the ideal way to grow your business these days. I realize that your uplines may be telling you to find forums and networking sites to find new members. But what they failed to tell you is that networking is about relationships. You build a relationship by finding a common bond and going from there. It is not about your business opportunity. It is about people.

Simply put. When someone shows up in the networking site and immediately starts leaving everyone messages about check out my…new site, business opportunity or whatever, it is just like a door to door salesperson or the telemarketer that calls you on the phone. (There is a do not call number to stop this.)

But there is nothing as formal as that in our networking group.

I am an advocate for home based businesses and look forward to more people realizing their dreams, especially here on Black Moms Club. But do not send me a message about your business without introducing yourself and getting to know me. If you don’t know anything about me how do you know that your business is the business for me?

We all have our businesses listed. If someone is interested in your business they will come to you. Again, it is not about your business…it is about people.

Thank you for reading this and I am sure that I am not the only one that feels this way.

Expect Success but don’t push!

I agree with Trisha, Kim. There are no need for spamming. You put your business out there, and if people are interested they will let you know. I know I have a good thing going. It's free, and all you do is the same things you do everyday and make a commission. But I won't spam. I just keep telling everyone until they see the potential I see.

Hey girl, I feel you on this one. I have my poetry book and online t-shirt business and have posted blogs letting people know what I have available and figure if people wanted to support they would (wink, wink). LOL Anyway, the business opportunities are not for everyone and, of course, every opportunity is what someone would want to get involved in. People know what they are looking for and pretty much know how to find it at this point, so the spamming and unwelcome knocks are really not neccessary. Just wanted to co-sign girl.
