Changing my Mind…SET!

I’ve been offered the opportunity to speak with some young ladies currently residing in a Juvenile Detention Center. I am honored for being asked but initially I questioned myself and my ability. I found myself actually trying to talk myself out of going, worried about my being qualified. What if I said the wrong thing? What if they didn’t like me? What if they asked me something and I couldn’t answer? What if? What if?

If you’ve been following my blog, you are well aware of my struggle with “What if?” It’s called fear and fear will hypnotize you into doing NOTHING and going NOWHERE!  You can’t win if you don’t play and fear will keep you from getting in the game! So I CHANGED my MINDSET!

I am going. I will offer these girls honesty and hope. I will let them know that regardless of their past, they can’t allow it or anyone to dictate their future. Everyone has made a bad choice. That doesn’t make us bad people. I want them to get that. NOW! You can change your life whenever you decide by changing with your mind. Sounds simple…but most adults don’t get it and we wonder what’s wrong with our children.

In this case, I changed the way I formed my questions: What if I say something to change ONE GIRLS LIFE? What if I can renew ONE GIRLS’ FAITH in HERSELF! These type of questions changed my entire outlook, reminding me that 30 years ago I could have been one of those girls. I was raised in a single parent household, I was exposed to things that I shouldn’t have been at an early age. I was molested at 12 and kept it to myself until my late teens. People thought I was tough because that’s what I wanted them to think. I was living in fear and had no voice. I could have been one of those girls and so could many others. What makes us different: CHOICES!

And that’s what I’ll let them know…that they have choices! Hey, so do you.

If you’re looking to change your life work on what you are thinking. Stop thinking about what you don’t have or what you don’t want. That kind of thinking only attracts more of the same.

Speak increase into your world and become your authentic self. Surround yourself with positive people who will also speak increase into your life. Can’t find those people, come hang out with me and my friends at The Million Mind March. Everyone there is 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Check us out for free until March 25th.
