Hey Nicholle,
The winters here are okay, I hate the wintertime but I deal with it. I am in the capital and here the winters are okay and summers are hot. They do things differently here in Columbus then back in Cleveland. They have snow emergencies here and when the roads are bad depending on the level of snow emergency they either advise you not to be on the road or take your time I was told at on point if your are on the road when they advise you not to you can get a ticket but I don't know how true that is. I don't know much about the winters out by Hiram. But I am originally from Cleveland and up there we got that lake effect snow and it was way colder then here in Columbus. Plus I grew up in the snow belt( Lake County) so we got slammed every winter. Its a big difference from TX I bet. I am trying to go someplace warm and where I can pursue my career in Criminal Justice. I have been finding volunteer places here but they are not helping me. I found one good one a case aide to a PO but no one is needing the help.
Hiram College is located somewhere near Akron which is about an hour and half from me but 45 minutes outside my hometown of Cleveland. I know its in Hiram, Ohio but I am not sure where it is but it should not be that far from Akron, Ohio.
Hey Nicholle, I have been doing well. My semester is going good almost over but this research paper is killing me but I am making it happen. How have thing been with you and how are your boys?
Hi Nicole, I would love to send you a free copy of my book for boys... ages 9-12. (I have extras at home) It is written in pretty simple language with no "don't (s)" in the book.It is not harsh and believe me what they hear from other students can be very influential. (I taught for 27 yrs). Let me know if you would like a copy.....read excerpts at : www.helenbrewer.com Marie
Hey there. Thanks for the write back. Yes I would love to get to know you and your boys better. I also have recently relocated to TX and am looking to eastablish my own network support system. Please dont be a stranger.
Yeah girl, another girl. A pink, estrogen filled palace. My poor hubby is at wits end trying to attend to all the drama, divas, tears-and me too! I officially received my charter last week! Arkansas has its first chapter of Mocha Moms! I am so excited.
Sorry, I haven't been on here for awhile. I've been going through some things, and I still am. I live in Port Arthur, TX which is about 100 miles east of Houston.
Hi Nicholle, Hope you are having a fabulous week. Thanks for your energy, drive, and passion to make the world a better place! Marie "It’s Crunch Time!”, This is a new children’s book by Marie Brewer (www.helenbrewer.com for the link to book) This is my book of muscle for boys (ages 9-12) to point them in the direction of HOPE!...This is an interactive book where they can write about their feelings. It discusses acceptable behavior, honesty, good self-image, respect for females and animals, appreciation for teachers/school, choosing good friends. The book also talks about resisting gangs, guns, drugs, violence, alcohol and bad influences. Let's attack the behavior, not the boy. "It's Crunch Time!" , by Marie Brewer, www.bbotw.com. i haven't been on this site for a while and missed a comment you left about talking to your sons about life lessons. I've recently published my book, 17 to Life: A Black Boy Memoir ( On Becoming a Human... Being in America). The book addresses what it was like to go from black boy to black man in this country. I would love to get feedback from you, your sons and other mothers about the content. You may also click my Youtube page to hear me reading from the first few chapters... Look forward to hearing from you and your sons.
Hi Nic, sorry I took so long to comment back but yes I am from the Virgin Islands. I attend the St, Thomas campus which the ambience is rather beautiful and comfortable. As fas as teaching.....you will get to learn alot from your students as well as they will learn alot from you. Folk from the Virgin Islands is very opinionated. Good Luck!
